Rev. Joseph Irvin (Jake) Tackett, 75, of Wheelwright, passed away Friday November 16, 2012 at the Hazard Hospice Center. He was born January 6, 1937 in Pike County to the late Sid and Laura Damron Tackett.

Rev. Joseph Irvin (Jake) Tackett, 75, of Wheelwright, passed away Friday November 16, 2012 at the Hazard Hospice Center. He was born January 6, 1937 in Pike County to the late Sid and Laura Damron Tackett.

Jake was a minister and member of the Wheelwright Freewill Baptist church.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters: Estill, Johnny, Jerry, Tab, Sarah, and Lucille.

He is survived by his wife: Barbara Sue Leedy Tackett, four sons: Joe (Kim) of Bypro, Gilbert (Sharon) of Indian Creek, Keith (Pam) of Ligon, Timmy (Wanda) of Lexington; four brothers: Douglas of Esco, Kenny of Penny Rd., Benny of Wheelwright, Jackie of Virgie, eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:00 p.m. at the Wheelwright Freewill Baptist Church with Louis Ferrari and other ministers of Wheelwright Freewill Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Rollins Cemetery at Bypro. Online condolences may be expressed at hallandjones.com.
