BETSY LAYNE The Allen Central volleyball team traveled to Betsy Layne Thursday evening for a Floyd County Conference/58th District match. Allen Central recorded its 24th win, defeating Betsy Layne for the third time in five matches. The Rebels, under the direction of veteran head coach Larry Maynard, moved to 5-1 in Floyd County Conference/58th District play after posting the win. Allen Central blanked Betsy Layne 2-0, prevailing 25-23, 25-21 in a hard-fought effort. The Rebels moved to 3-2 versus Betsy Layne this season.
Another young star emerged for the Allen Central volleyball program. Seventh grader Katie Kendrick recorded four blocks and 10 kills to lead the Rebels.
The Allen Central junior varsity team also won, defeating the Betsy Layne JV 2-1 (21-12, 18-21, 21-18).
Allen Central blanked Piarist School 2-0 Monday evening. The Rebels defeated Piarist 25-10, 25-17. The Allen Central varsity volleyball team moved to 25-8 overall following the district/conference victory over the Piarist School.
Allen Central was hosting Prestonsburg Tuesday evening in other Floyd County Conference/58th District varsity and junior varsity matches.
