PIKEVILLE – The city of Pikeville will be getting a little scary this weekend as the Dark Woods Convention brings horror icons and other special guests to the Landmark Inn.
According to information provided by the organizers of the convention, “Dark Woods Convention was developed to bring horror and paranormal fans together to socialize and meet some of their favorite celebrities, an opportunity often overlooked in smaller areas like Eastern Kentucky. This event will include over 50 horror actors, paranormal investigators, wrestlers, television and radio personalities, artists, local independent filmmakers and actors.”
Some of the guests at the event include Michael Berryman, star of the original “The Hills Have Eyes,” Dick Warlock, from “Halloween II,” and Tiffany Shepis, who has appeared in numerous films including Troma Entertainment’s “Tromeo and Juliet.”
The convention will also include Prestonsburg’s own Deadpit Radio, John Marshall, of the Floyd County Paranormal Society and Floyd County native Amy Hayes, the first female ring announcer in the history of professional boxing. Hayes is also starring in a new independent film titled “Mountain Mafia” produced by Cherokee Hall, of Betsy Layne, and is featured in the Disney film “Secretariat” to be released later this year.
The Dark Woods Convention will take place on March 5-7. Tickets are $15 for Friday and Sunday, and $25 for Saturdary.
