BIGGS – A Pike County man was killed and his passenger injured in a single-vehicle accident this past weekend when police said he lost control and hit a bridge abutment.

Raymond Lee Farley, 60, of Grapevine, was driving his 2004 Kia east on Route 194 just after midnight Saturday when he lost control of the vehicle and struck the bridge, police said.

Farley was pronounced dead at the scene by Pike County Deputy Coroner Denver Bailey, while an unidentified passenger was transported to Pikeville Medical Center following the accident.

Kentucky State Police was assisted on scene by the Pike County Sheriff’s Office, Feds Creek Fire Department, Elkhorn City Ambulance Service and DHP Ambulance Service.

The death is being investigated by KSP Trooper John Gabbard.
