ALLEN – The string of robberies, particularly of Double Kwik stations throughout Floyd County, continues with the most recent of these taking place at the Allen Double Kwik this past weekend.

State police were notified in the early hours of Sunday morning that the location had been robbed at knifepoint by a man wearing a blue, hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.

Store clerks told officers that the man entered the store at about 3 a.m. Sunday morning, wielding a knife and demanding money.

Afterwards, witnesses said the man fled from the scene on foot.

The case remains under investigation by Kentucky State Police Trooper Cassandra Mullins, who, along with fellow KSP personnel, was assisted at the scene by members of the both the Floyd County Sheriff’s Department and the Prestonsburg Police Department.

The robbery is the second such robbery of Double Kwik locations in the county in the last few weeks, with a third taking place at a location in the Meta area of Pikeville.
