Johnson man charged with marijuana cultivation
SITKA — A probation check by Johnson County sheriff’s deputies led to the confiscation of seven marijuana plants earlier this week.
According to Johnson County Sheriff Dwayne Price, his office received a call from the Department of Probation and Parole asking for assistance Wednesday to check on 40-year-old Eric Osborne, of Sitka.
Upon officers’ arrival at Osborne’s residence, located at 399 Tick Vanhoose Branch, they discovered seven marijuana plants growing on the hill behind the residence. The plants ranged in size from 12 inches to 3 feet in height. Osborne was charged with a probation violation and cultivating marijuana over five plants.
Osborne was taken into custody and lodged in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center. The case is currently under investigation by Deputy David Pridemore of the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, and is pending indictment.
Price requests that Johnson County residents who know of any drug activity, or illegal activity of any kind, contact the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office at 789-3411.
