Richie Dean Elkins, 53, of London, died Wednesday May 8, 2013, at his residence.

He was born Feb. 28, 1960, in Martin to Silas Woodrow Elkins, of London, and Blanche Clay Patton, of Lawrencburg. Richie was a disabled steel factory worker.

He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Vernon Patton; a sister, Debra Mae Elkins Rainey; and a niece, Maria Lynn Elkins.

He is survived by three brothers: Kenneth Ray (Marie) Elkins, of Melvin, James Michael Elkins, of Prestonsburg, Buck Elkins Jr., of London, and Jamie Hall, of Harold; a sister, Wendy Lou Rainey, of Lawrenceburg; and nieces and nephews, Shonna Moore, of Martin, Cassie Dawn (Jeremy) Daniels and Kimberly Ann (Ryan) Bryant, both of Beaver, Kyle Ray “Bubby” Elkins, of Melvin, Mariah Lynn Roberts, of Orlando, Fla., James Dean Elkins, of Prestonsburg, John Morgan Rainey, of Sarasota, Fla., Jamilyn Hall, of Grethel, and Hunter Hall, of Grethel.

Funeral services were held May 11, at Nelson Frazier Funeral Home with David Reed officiating. Burial followed the service at Dave Mullins Cemetery in Melvin.
