Maxine Anderson, 75, of Ypsilanti, Mich., died Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at Angela Hospice in Livonia, Mich., with her loving husband and daughter Lisa at her side.
She was born Sept. 21, 1937, in Middlesboro, the daughter of William Arch and Sarah (Evans) Ramsey. On Dec. 12, 1958, she married Russell Anderson in Ypsilanti, and he survives.
Maxine will always be remembered as a loving wife and mother. She truly loved flowers and loved to visit the Botancial Gardens and Nichols Arboretum in Ann Arbor. Neighbors often stopped and admired the beautiful peonies and bearded iris in her yard. She was an exceptional cook and found enjoyment in looking through cookbooks for new recipes. Maxine was also an accomplished pianist and made sure she passed her love of music on to her daughters, who also learned to play the piano. She had a great love for the Lord and was a devoted member of Metro Baptist Church in Belleville, Mich.
Survivors besides her husband include three daughters, Tomi Sue Anderson, of Jacksonville, Fla., Kelly (Robert) Vacendak, of Richardson, Texas, and Lisa Anderson, of Livonia, Mich.; five grandchildren, Alisa, James and Victoria Stuart, and Nicole and Lauren Vacendak; one great granddaughter, Alexis Stuart; her half-brother, John King, of Paintsville; and her niece, Maria Merola, of Ann Arbor, Mich.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Arch Ramsey, and half-sister, Mable Merola.
Funeral services were celebrated Saturday, April 27, at Metro Baptist Church, 47100 N. Interstate 94 Service Dr., Belleville, Mich., with Dr. John L. Vaprezsan officiating. Burial followed in Highland Cemetery, in Ypsilanti.
