GARRETT - The Betsy Layne Ladycats notched their fourth 58th District/Floyd County Conference win on Tuesday, upending host Allen Central 10-6.


Betsy Layne prevailed in its second straight outing to improve to 7-6 overall and 4-1 in the 58th District/Floyd County Conference.


Allen Central absorbed its fourth straight loss, slipping to 7-12 overall and 2-2 in the 58th District/Floyd County Conference.


Betsy Layne pitcher Brandy Morrow earned the win. Morrow overcame more than one rough inning en route to the victory.


Allen Central hurler Breanna Prater took the loss. Prater faced a hard-hitting Betsy Layne batting order in her latest outing.


Eddi Akers and Emily Kidd each had a triple for the Ladycats. Kennedy Bias added to the Betsy Layne offensive attack, connecting on a double.


Akers delivered a game-high four RBIs for the Ladycats. Mercedes Martin delivered two RBIs while Morrow, Kidd, Bias and Summer Johnson drove in one run each.


Betsy Layne scored its 10 runs on 13 hits. Thriving defensively, Betsy Layne exited the contest error-free.


The Ladycats broke open a close game in the third inning, scoring four runs. Betsy Layne eventually led 7-0 before Allen Central responded with four runs in the bottom of the fifth.


The Ladycats edged Allen Central 3-2 in the seventh inning to grab the district/conference victory.


Prater helped her pitching cause with a hit and two RBIs. Emlee Adams also drove in a pair of runs for the Lady Rebels.


Allen Central committed two errors in the loss.


Betsy Layne completed a regular-season sweep of Allen Central after defeating the Lady Rebels 12-1 in five innings in a district/conference game played March 27.
