A Floyd County man, and son of Sheriff John K. Blackburn was arrested Wednesday afternoon in Prestonsburg on charges of being under the influence of drugs.
Jeffrey K. Blackburn, 29, of Prestonsburg, was arrested Wednesday afternoon after Prestonsburg 911 recieved a intoxicated driving complaint concerning a black Chevy S-10.
According to the police report, the vehicle was located in Glyn View Plaza parking lot, and Prestonsburg Police Sgt. Brian Walker advised that one of the occupants had entered Mia Italiano.
Another Officer B. Martin observed Blackburn exit the restroom and stated in his report that, “I noticed that his motor skills were poor, his eyes were red and glassy, his pupils were constricted, and his speech was slurred.”
Officer Martin states that Blackburn failed a field sobriety test. Blackburn allegedly told the officer he had drunk one beer.
Blackburn was arrested and transported to the Floyd County Detention Center. He is charged with public intoxication of a controlled substance.
Blackburn was arrested for a second offense of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs in February 2012. During court, County Attorney Tyler Green pointed out to the court that Blackburn’s most recent arrest violated his probation. He will next appear in court on Monday, March 25.
Blackburn’s arrest falls on the heels of his father’s arrest in Powell County only days earlier for driving under the influence.
