LOUISA - The Prestonsburg baseball team split games at Lawrence County on Saturday. Capitol (W.Va.) edged Prestonsburg 7-6. The Blackcats, however, landed in the win column by defeating Highlands 3-1 in another game.

Prestonsburg 3, Highlands 1: Prestonsburg plated three runs in the seventh inning to defeat Highlands 3-1 at Lawrence County’s Randy Keeton Field.
Senior pitcher Adam Griffith earned the win for the Blackcats.
Highlands, a team from Northern Kentucky, led first. The Bluebirds scored their lone run in the sixth inning to lead 1-0.
Griffith, Hunter Brown and Jarrin Hall each scored for Prestonsburg in the seventh inning.
Brown, Hall, Aaron Foley and Bryson Williams each had a single for the Blackcats.
After splitting the two games on Saturday, Prestonsburg owned a 2-2 record.

Allen Central: The Rebels are 2-2 after posting convincing wins over Buckhorn (17-0, five innings) and Phelps (13-3 five innings). Allen Central has dropped games to Johnson Central (1-11, five innings) and Breathitt County (4-8).

Betsy Layne: Pike County Central pulled away to beat Betsy Layne 14-5 in the Bobcats’ season-opener Friday.
