PES Cheer wins first, moves on to Nationals

Floyd County cheer squads continued their dominance last weekend, as the Prestonsburg Elementary School cheerleaders won two recent competitions.

On Feb. 16 and 17, the Prestonsburg Elementary Cheerleaders competed in and won titles in the Elite Cheer Invitational. The group took home first place in Sideline Optional and second place in the two-and-a-half minute routine. The strong showing gave the cheer squad a qualifying bid to move on to nationals March 23.

The PES squad also recently placed first in the Mountain Classic two-and-a-half-minute routine, and were the highlight of a recent Drillers game where they performed Feb. 18.

The PES squad features Haley Ousley, Annabelle Grace Trusty, Chloe Mills, Isabella Hamilton, Chelsea Barnett, Emily Stratton, Alivia Slone, Alyssa Garrett, Madelyn Shepherd, Taylor Scarborough, Tabitha Mitchell. The squad is coached by Melissa Turner.
