PRESTONSBURG - Sophomore guard Chase Parsley drained five 3-point field goals and scored a game-high 31 points to lead visiting Sheldon Clark to a 70-67 win over 15th Region rival Prestonsburg Tuesday night.
Sheldon Clark hit 10 3-point field goals and featured only four different scorers.
Eighth-grade guard Dylan James scored 21 points and Patrick Rice added 11 for the Cardinals.
Prestonsburg and Sheldon Clark swapped leads in both halves. After Sheldon Clark enjoyed an 18-14 scoring advantage in the opening quarter, Prestonsburg used a 17-12 run in the second quarter to carry a 31-30 lead into halftime.
Sheldon Clark retook the lead in the second half. The Cardinals battled back to take a 50-46 lead out of the third quarter.
Senior guard Chase Kirk chipped in seven points for Sheldon Clark in the winning effort.
The Cardinals, under the tutelage of new head coach Frankie Smith, converted on 12-of-21 free throw attempts.
Prestonsburg also canned four 3-pointers. Four of Prestonsburg’s six scorers reached double figures. Sophomore guard Jarrin Hall led Prestonsburg with a team-high 23 points. Hall drained seven 3-point field goals. Bryson Williams scored 15 points, Jarredd Jarrell tossed in 12 and Dalton Frasure added 10 for the Blackcats.
BJ Holliday, a player who recently returned from an injury, chipped in six points for the Blackcats.
Blake Lemaster rounded out the Prestonsburg scoring, converting on a free throw in the fourth quarter.
Prestonsburg was 12-of-17 from the free throw line in the loss.
