Man killed in wreck at McDowell

McDOWELL — A Beaver man is dead, after he lost control of the car he was driving and crashed over the weekend.

Kentucky State Police received a call Saturday, reporting a single-car wreck on Route 1929.

According to information obtained by officers at the scene, Steven A. Mitchell, 36, was driving north along the road when he lost control of his vehicle. The car left the road and overturned in a creek.

Mitchell was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck by Floyd County Coroner Greg Nelson. He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.

KSP Trooper Clifton Royal is leading the investigation into the wreck. He was assisted at the scene by troopers Brad Watson and Blake Frasure, as well as Left Beaver Ambulance Service.
