LOUISVILLE — Two Prestonsburg High School students will be representing Floyd County, when the All-State Chorus takes the stage next week.

Nicholas Hites, son of Patricia Hites, of Prestonsburg, and Tom Hites, of Pikeville, and Jordan Marcum, son of Norm and Kim Marcum, of Prestonsburg, will perform with the chorus during the Kentucky Music Educators Association professional development conference. The performance will take place Feb. 8, at the Kentucky Center.

Like all of those selected for the honor, Hites and Marcum were required to audition for the chorus. Next week’s event will be the first time either teen has performed for an all-state ensemble.

Hites is a private voice student of Jennifer Hughes Bersaglia and a private piano student of Patricia Klatka. His other interests in school include band, handbells, student council, and Future Business Leaders of America. He is also involved in chancel choir and youth at Irene Cole Memorial Baptist Church. He enjoys playing piano and organ, as well as spending time with friends and family.

Marcum’s other interests in school include band, archery and academic team. He is also involved in Boy Scouts, choir and youth group at Fitzpatrick Baptist Church. He enjoys hiking, camping and reading, as well.

Both Hites and Marcum participate in the PHS choir, under the direction of Greta Gilbert.

Tickets for the performance are currently on sale at the Kentucky Center Ticket Office and can be purchase online at kentuckycenter.org or by calling (800) 775-7777. Prices are $10, plus handling fees of $6 per ticket and $4.55 per order.
