South Floyd falls to East Carter, finishes 0-3 in holiday tourney

RACELAND - East Carter prevented South Floyd from posting a win in the Raceland Derby Classic on Saturday afternoon, defeating the opposing Raiders 72-62 in the seventh-place game of the holiday tournament.

Cole Brammer paced East Carter with a game-high 24 points. Connor Greene added 17 points for the East Carter boys’ basketball team.

The win allowed East Carter to even its overall record to 5-5.

South Floyd remained winless, slipping to 0-9.

The South Floyd Raiders led early, outscoring East Carter 14-10 in the opening period. The Raiders from Floyd County, however, faced a deficit at the end of each of the next two quarters.

East Carter battled back to lead 29-25 at halftime. The Raiders from Carter County led 52-41 at the conclusion of the third quarter.

Junior guard Austin Salisbury led South Floyd with 14 points. South Floyd featured three scorers in double figures as junior forward Tyler Daniels tossed in 13 points and junior guard Austin Bailey added 11.

Other scorers for South Floyd were Weston Little (eight points), Dakota Justice (seven points), Michael Martin (seven points) and Jimmy Helton (three points).

Lewis County 80, South Floyd 50

RACELAND - Lewis County carried a 17-point lead over South Floyd into halftime and never faltered in the second half, defeating the Raiders 80-50 Friday evening.

Wade Adams and Jake Parker paced Lewis County with 16 points apiece. Adams also dished out eight assists for the Lions, who doubled up South Floyd 16-8 in the oepning quarter and led 44-27 at halftime.

Caleb Pruitt tossed in 12 points and Brett Ruckel added 11 for Lewis County, which improved to 6-3.

Trenton Walker and Colton Ripato pulled down 10 rebounds apiece for the Lions.

Austin Bailey led South Floyd with a team-best 15 points. Tyler Daniels joined Bailey in double figures with 13 points.
