Larry “Lawyer” Prater, 59, of Hippo, died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, at St. Joseph Martin.

He was born March 24, 1953, to Jack Prater and the late Orpha Mae Conley Prater. He was the husband of Priscilla Prater and worked as a coal miner.

He is survived by two daughters, Jessica (Kevin) Hall and Ashley Prater (Jordan Bentley), of Hippo; three brothers, Ronnie (Carol Sue) Prater and Barry Prater, both of Hippo, and Gary Prater, of Ashland; two sisters, Lelia (Lawrence) King, of Midway, and Camille (Gorman) Brown, of Langley; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Dec. 16, at Nelson Frazier Funeral Home, in Martin, with Claude Allen officiating. Burial followed the service at East Gate Memorial.
