PRESTONSBURG - Right now, Prestonsburg has Betsy Layne’s number. After knocking off the Bobcats in the 58th District Tournament title game, Prestonsburg defeated Betsy Layne 67-61 Monday night at the Prestonsburg Fieldhouse.

Freshman forward Dalton Frasure paced Prestonsburg with 23 points and 18 rebounds. Frasure led everyone in scoring and rebounding.

Prestonsburg (1-0) used a balanced attack to fend off Betsy Layne.

Bryson Williams scored 21 points and Jarredd Jarrell added 17 for the Blackcats. Williams and Jarrell both made three 3-pointers.

Each 58th District/Floyd County Conference team owned multiple leads.

Prestonsburg edged Betsy Layne 9-7 in the opening quarter and led 27-24 at halftime.

The Floyd County boys’ basketball teams were knotted 41-41 at the conclusion of the third quarter.

Prestonsburg outscored Betsy Layne 26-20 in a high-scoring fourth quarter.

Jarrin Hall chipped in three points for Prestonsburg in the victory.

B.J. Holliday added two points and 10 rebounds for the Blackcats.

Jon Stidham connected on a free throw for the Prestonsburg boys.

Betsy Layne (2-1) was held to a 29.6 field goal percentage shooting clip in the loss. The Bobcats were 21-of-71 from the field (four-of-21 from 3-point range). Betsy Layne made 15-of-25 attempts from the free throw line.

Peyton Case paced Betsy Layne with 14 points. Garran Newsome netted 12 points and Dylan Meade added 11 for the Bobcats.

Dustin Rogers scored nine points, Dylan Hamilton eight, Andrew Tackett four and Blake Rose two for the Betsy Layne boys’ basketball team.

Charles Daniels scored on a free throw for the Bobcats.
