Farris Onis Lawson, 68, of Betsy Layne, husband of Ruby Thompson Lawson, died Nov. 22, 2012, at Pikeville Medical Center.

He was born March 3, 1944, at Betsy Layne, to the late Robert and Myrtie Kidd Lawson. He was a disabled coal miner and a preacher in the Church of Christ.

He is survived by three sons, Farris Lawson Jr. and his wife, Sarah, David Lawson and his wife, Judy, and Roger Lawson and his wife, Melissa, all of Betsy Layne; seven grandchildren, Amanda Maynard, Chris Lawson, Michael Lawson, Mitchell Lawson, Megan Lawson, Harley Lawson and Jesse Lason; seven great grandchildren, Zachary, James, Lance, Xavier, Paxton, Braxton and Layden; and three brothers, Arnold Lawson, of Pikeville, and Hershel Lawson and Bobby Dean Laqwson, both of Michigan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 13 siblings.

Funeral services for Farris Onis Lawson were held Monday, Nov. 26, at Nelson Frazier Funeral Home, of Martin, with Jr. Kidd and Chris Kidd officiating. Burial followed in the Lawson Cemetery, at Betsy Layne.

Nelson Frazier Funeral Home, of Martin, was in charge of arrangements.
