Townsel Allen “T.A.” Combs, age 96, of Langley, husband of Duna Francis Verich Combs, died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012, at Pikeville Medical Center.

He was born Aug. 16, 1916, at Eastern, a son of the late Townsel and Octavia Allen Combs. T.A. was a retired civil engineer, land surveyor and a former student of forestry at Oregon State University.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Paul Townsel Combs, of Langley, Shawn Woodward Combs, of Harold, and William Spencer Constantine Demetrius Combs, of Harold; two daughters, Angela Combs Baseman, of Jenkintown, Pa., and Andrea Malina Montouri Combs, of Wilmington, N.C.; a brother, Carl Lamar Combs, of Lexington; 12 grandchildren, Jessica Combs, Michael Combs, Chad Combs, Dylan Spencer Combs, Matthew Alexander Combs, Landon Grant Combs, Alexis Paige Lewis, Julian Spencer Baseman, Rosalie Eleanor Baseman, Austin Charles Townsel Montouri, Corbin John Peter Montouri and Marianna Sofia Octavia Montouri.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Thomas Spencer Combs and Gene Norman Combs.

Funeral services for Townsel Allen “T.A.” Combs were conducted Sunday, Nov. 25, at the St. Martha Catholic Church, of Prestonsburg, with Father Bob Damron conducting. Burial followed in the Allen Cemetery, at Eastern.
