Rubin Armstrong Stephens, age 83, of Prestonsburg, Ky. widow of Mary Caudill Stephens, died Friday, November 16 at his residence.


He was born October 7, 1929 in Risner, Ky. a son of the late Thomas William and Mary Tussey Stephens. Rubin was a retired coal miner, am Air Force WWII veteran, member of the VFW, Shriners, Masons, American Legion, Am Vets, Graceway United Methodist Church and a Kentucky Colonel.


Rubin is survived by sons: Danny (Mary) Stephens, Martin, Ky., Ted (Debbie) Stephens, Dwale, Ky. step-son, Bobby Caudill, Cynthania, Ky., one daughter, Nancy (Skip) Meade, Dwale, Ky., one brother, Edward Stephens, Prestonsburg, Ky., one sister, Alva Ousley, Prestonsburg, Ky.; 10 grandchildren, April Stephens, Shawn Stephens, Amy Williamson, Bobby Akers II, Brent Akers, Traci Layne, Staci Stephens, Joy Epling, Dean Epling, Michelle Castle, and 21 great grandchildren.


In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by one daughter, Barbara Akers, one grandchild, Nathaniel Meade, four brothers, Curtis, Rufus, Darb and Sam Stephens, and two sisters, Dorothy and Alice Prater.


Funeral service for Rubin Armstrong Stephens were conducted Sunday, November 18, in the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin,. Burial followed in the Akers Family Cemetery, Dana, with the Hall Funeral Home caring for those arrangements. In lieu of flowers the family request donations to Appalachian Hospice Care Inc., Pikeville or Hager Hill.
