COLUMBIA – Junior Jasmine Brimm scored a career-high 35 points to lead No. 17 Lindsey Wilson past the University of Pikeville 76-63 on Saturday afternoon.

Brimm, a 5-7 guard from Smyrna, Tenn., was 13-of-23 from the field and sank 7-of-10 from the line to keep Coach John B. Wethington’s team unbeaten at 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the Mid-South Conference.

Brimm had plenty of help, as senior forward Ashley Rainey scored 16 points while pulling down 15 rebounds on the day. Rainey’s boards helped the Blue Raiders to a 39-34 edge on the glass.

In addition to her scoring, Brimm had seven rebounds and three assists for the Blue Raiders.

Pikeville, which fell to 0-4 overall and 0-2 in the league, had three players in double figures. Sophomore Whitney Belle Jackson led her team with 18 points and also with seven rebounds in the loss. Junior Callisha Johnson also had a season high 16 points.

Sophomore guard Christin Haney came off the bench with 14 points, nailing 4-of-6 from the arc. She also had five rebounds.

The game was close most of the way. The Blue Raiders lead was between six and 10 points most of the way before pulling away to lead by as many as 18 points down the stretch.

Lindsey shot 43.5 percent but was only 3-of-19 from the arc. Pikeville, on the other hand, was 45.3 percent overall and 5-of-15 from downtown.

The Blue Raiders were on the road Tuesday night, visiting Campbellsville University.

Pikeville was entertaining U.Va.-Wise at the East Kentucky Expo Center.

Results from Tuesday night’s games were unavailable at press time.
