Elbert Eugene Poe, 67, of Houston, Texas, died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, at Cypress Fairbanks Hospital, in Houston.

He was born Aug. 9, 1945, in Prestonsburg, to the late Amos and Annie McGuire Poe. He was a retired construction worker, a Vietnam veteran, a member of the American Legion, member of the Veterans of Foreign Affairs and a member of the Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Malcolm Isaac Poe, and a sister, Ethel Kendrick.

He is survived by brothers and sisters, John Poe, of Blue River, David Poe, of Pikeville, Amos Poe Jr., of Goshen, Ind., Ronnie Poe, of Leesburg, Ind., Billy Poe, of Sidney, Ind, Lucy Poe Davis and Faye Crace, both of Prestonsburg, and Mable Rickel, of Warsaw, Ind.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 26, at Nelson Frazier Funeral Home, in Martin. Burial will follow the service at Amos Poe Cemetery, in Prestonsburg.
