Pep Prater, 68 years of age, passed away Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, at Mountain View Health Care Center, in Elkhorn City.

Born June 24, 1944, in Floyd County, he was the son of the late Wayne Prater and Clara Anna Whittaker Prater.

In addition to his parents, Pep was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Shelba Jean Nelson Prater, on Sept. 23, 1978.

He was of the Pentecostal faith and retired from American Standard of Paintsville, where he was a factory worker.

Pep leaves a host of friends who will miss him. He will be thought of often by all who knew and loved him.

Graveside services were held Oct. 9, in the Nelson Family Cemeter, at Richardson Branch in Prestonsburg, with Pastor Tommy Reed officiating. Burial followed at the cemetery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Carter Funeral Home.
