Allen A-Team wins Shag Campbell championship

ALLEN - Host Allen outscored Stumbo 20-16 in the second half to edge the Lady Mustangs 37-35 in the Shag Campbell A-Team Tournament championship game Friday evening.


Reesce Endicott led a balanced Allen offensive effort with 13 points. Endicott was one of three Allen scorers to reach double figures. Allison Hall scored 11 points and Kassie Jarvis chipped in 10 for the Lady Eagles.


Hall had the game’s only double-double, pulling down a game-high 13 rebounds to go along with her 11 points. Eleven of Hall’s 13 rebounds came on the defensive end.


Stumbo outscored Allen 17-9 in the opening quarter and clung to a 19-17 lead at halftime.


The Lady Eagles battled back in the second half. Allen used a 10-6 run in the third quarter to lead 27-25.


Allen overcame a poor shooting effort. The Lady Eagles were 14-for-42 (33 percent) from the field in the late-regular-season tournament game.


Allen fared better at the free throw line, finishing 9-for-15 (60 percent).


Heaven Collins contributed two points and Maddy Hamilton scored on a free throw for the Lady Eagles.
