Alma Ruth Thornsberry, 87, of Wheelwright, widow of Sterling Thornsberry, died Sept. 14, 2012, at Hazard ARH.

Born Sept. 14, 1925, to the late Sam and Delia Osborne Moore, she was a homemaker and a member of the Burton Pentecostal Church.

In addition to her parents and husband, Alma was preceded in death by a son, Tilden Ray Thornsberry; a brother, Archie Moore; two sisters, Hazel Walters and Sadie Hitchcock; and three great grandchildren, Delanie Ward, Craig Posada, and McKinsey Williams.

She is survived by her children, James (Joyce) Thornsberry, of St. Mary’s, Ohio, Larry (Sandi) Thornsburry, of Visialia, Calif., Ricky Thornsberry, of Wheelwright, Linda (Coy) Slone, of Hindman, Pauline (Jim) Slone, of St. Mary’s, Ohio, Pam (Bill) Slone, of Hindman, and Carol Thornsberry, of Wheelwright, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Services were held Tuesday, Sept. 18, at Nelson Frazier Funeral Home, in Martin, with Buford Hall and Darrell Short officiating. Burial followed in the Newman Cemetery, at Hi Hat.

Nelson Frazier Funeral Home, of Martin, was in charge of arrangements.
