Bobcats blank Knott County Central

HINDMAN - Betsy Layne registered its third straight win Friday night, defeating host Knott County Central 33-0 in a game that featured a record-setting performance from a Bobcat defender.

Betsy Layne moved to 3-1 after posting the win. Knott County Central remained winless, slipping to 0-4.

Junior quarterback Dylan Hamilton led a balanced Betsy Layne offense. Hamilton completed 11-of-25 passes for 184 yards and two touchdowns.

Peyton Case was Hamilton’s go-to receiver, reeling in seven catches for 156 yards and one touchdown.

Blake Spencer added two receptions for 28 yards and one touchdown in the winning effort.

Houston Hall led Betsy Layne on the ground, rushing 14 times for 61 yards. Josh Salisbury followed, adding 58 yards via 12 carries.

Tony Dirico and Preston Thacker rushed for one touchdown apiece in Betsy Layne’s shutout win.

Durtin Rogers led the Betsy Layne defense. Rogers recorded four interceptions, setting a new school record. The productive Rogers returned the four picks for 160 yards and two touchdowns.

Spencer ranked as Betsy Layne’s leading tackler, totaling 16 tackles. Hall added 15 tackles for the Bobcats.

Blake Boudle registered nine tackles and Dirico contributed eight stops for Betsy Layne in the victory.

The Bobcats, who haven’t lost since falling to Bracken County in a season-opener, limited the Knott County Central offense throughout the game.

Betsy Layne will visit Prestonsburg later in the week for its first Class 2A, District 8 game. Prestonsburg defeated non-district foe Pike County Central 83-49 Friday night.
