Zelvia “Granny” (Newsome) Gayheart, 77 of Claypool, Ind., went to be with our Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012, at 2:48 a.m., in Kosciusko Community Hospital, in Warsaw, Ind.
She was born on April 16, 1935, to Perry and Nola (Sword) Newsome in Floyd County, Kentucky.
She has lived her life in Floyd County and Kosciusko County. She was a homemaker. Zelvia was a member of Early Apostolic Bible Training Center, Claypool. She was a licensed minister and was the first honorary mother of the church.
Zelvia is survived by three daughters, Carolyn Sue (and spouse Sterling) Hall, of Fort Wayne, Ind., Rosalind (and spouse Jimmy) Gillespie, of Floyd County, and Regina (and spouse Stephen B.) Poe, of Claypool; four sons, Dewey Gayheart, Jimmy (and spouse Julia) Gayheart and Shannon Gayheart, all of Warsaw, Reginald Jr. (and spouse Holly Gayheart) of Loudonville, Ohio and Paul (and spouse Nita) Gayheart, of Claypool; two brothers, Cornelius (and spouse Judy Faye) Newsome, of Warsaw, and William Lee Newsome, of Willard, Ohio; 29 grandchildren; and 29 great grandchildren.
She was preceded by a son, Elvis Dean Gayheart, four brothers and five sisters.
Zelvia enjoyed serving the Lord and traveling.
Visitation will be on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 14 and 15, from 2 to 7 p.m., at Early Apostolic Bible Training Center, 6800 South State Road 15 Claypool, Ind.
The funeral service will be on Monday, Sept. 17, 2012, at 10 a.m., at the church, with Pastor Dean Ealey officiating. Burial will follow the service at Oakwood Cemetery, in Warsaw, Ind.
