LAWRENCEBURG - The Allen Central High School volleyball team added another tournament title over the weekend, winning the Anderson County Volley Smash 2012 championship.
Allen Central exited the tournament with an 18-3 overall record.
On Friday night, Allen Central blanked Thomas Nelson 2-0, prevailing 25-18, 25-19.
The Rebels remained in the win column on Saturday, shutting out Western Hills in a morning match. Allen Central dominated Western Hills, defeating the Wolverines 25-3, 25-13.
In its final pool play match. Allen Central beat Bardstown 2-0. Prevailing to win a hard-fought match, Allen Central defeated Bardstown 26-24, 25-20.
Allen Central entered the gold division of the tournament as the No. 2 seed. Host Anderson County earned the No. 1 seed in the tournament’s gold division.
Allen Central received a bye in the gold division and awaited the winner of a match featuring Washington County and Madison County. Washington County won over Madison County but couldn’t limited Allen Central. The Rebels outlasted Washington County 2-1 (25-21, 20-25, 15-10).
Allen Central faced host Anderson County in the championship match. The Rebels defeated the homestanding Bearcats (12-9) in two sets, winning 25-15 and 25-12 to claim the Anderson County Volley Smash Championship.
