EASTERN - After claiming the 15th Region All ‘A’ Championship last week, Allen Central returned to regular-season competition this week, posting a pair of conference wins over familiar foes.
On Tuesday, Allen Central visited South Floyd. The Rebels prevailed, pulling away to win 3-0 (25-19, 25-18, 25-14) inside Raider Arena. Allen Central earned its second conference win of the season.
For Allen Central, Katie Kendrick and Rachel Moore knocked in 12 kills each. Courtney Hodge set up 33 and added eight kills for the Rebels.
Ciara Jones and Laken Tackett added nine and six kills, respectively.
Sarah Grindrod chipped in four kills for the Rebels.
DeShea Elliott led the Allen Central back row defensively, turning in 14 digs. Hodge dug up 12 and added a block-assist. Kendrick added 10 scoops and six blocks for the Rebels.
Allen Central 3, Betsy Layne 1 (25-9, 26-28, 25-20, 26-24) In a nail-biter at Betsy Layne on Wednesday, Allen Central pulled out a hard-fought 3-1 win inside the Dome.
In a blowout first set, Allen Central won 25-9. Betsy Layne, however, bounced back to claim the second set, prevailing28-26. Allen Central battled back to win 25-20 in the third set. The Rebels hung on to win 26-24 in the final set.
Courtney Hodge directed a very balanced Allen Central offense, recording a season-high 37 assists.
Katie Kendrick pounded in 13 kills, Rachel Moore smacked in 12 and Ciara Jones added 11 for the Rebels. Kendrick had four service aces and Moore added three for the Allen Central volleyball team.
DeShea Elliott played her best defensive game to date, delivering a season-high 29 digs, Hodge added 16 digs and Moore dug up 15 for the Rebels.
Kendrick earned eight blocks and one block-assist for Allen Central in the victory. Laken Tackett stopped five and Sarah Grindrod knocked down three for the Rebels.
