PIKEVILLE – What began as an effort to help out a family member – and continue her love of the hot dog – has resulted in a spot on the roster of the defending national champion.

Fallon Tallman, a freshman from Canton, Ohio, has signed a scholarship agreement with the women’s bowling team at the University of Pikeville.

Tallman started her bowling career 11 years ago, and admits it was only as a favor. “I only did it because my cousin needed another bowler on the team,” she said. “Plus, they had 50 cent hot dogs.”

Now she will attempt to help the Bears repeat as NAIA national champions.

Tallman has an average of 195 and has posted a high game of 279 and high series of 742. She participated in the Junior Gold tournaments in both Las Vegas and Indianapolis.

When not bowling, Tallman enjoys golf, basketball and lacrosse.
