PIKEVILLE - On August 18, the Tug Valley Bass Anglers held its sixth tournament of the 2012 season on Fishtrap Lake. A total of 24 anglers competed in the event. The tournament serves as the club’s only night tournament. It was a 12-hour all-night event, running from 8 p.m.-8 a.m. Gerry Adkins finished first in the night tournament.
Fishtrap Lake was at normal pool with clear water conditions on most of the lake, which is perfect for night fishing.
Weather for the tournament was good with partly cloudy skies and light winds.
It was typical nighttime fishing as the fish were mostly on the main lake from 5-15 feet deep.
The main pattern for this tournament was to fish top water and finesse baits before dark and early the next morning. As night settled in, anglers switched to crawfish imitations, plastic worms and buzzbaits, working around any cover on main lake banks. The top finishers were as follows: 1. Gerry Adkins (1 fish), 5.36 lbs.; 2. Lynn fields (1 fish), 2.04 lbs.; 3. Joe Collins (1 fish), 1.72 lbs.; 4. Brad May (1 fish), 1.69 lbs.; 5. Michael Salyer (1 fish), 1.55 lbs.; 6. Lacy Edmiston (1 fish), 1.39 lbs.
