Kenes “Cookie” Hall, age 88, of Banner, husband of Ruby Doris Coleman Hall, passed away Aug. 14, 2012, at the Saint Joseph Hospital of Martin.
He was born April 18, 1924, in Teaberry, the son of the late Joseph and Lizzie Hall. He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran, retired coal miner having worked 39 years with Stephens-Elkhorn Coal Company and Island Creek Coal Price Tipple, and member of the UMWA, VFW and the House of Prayer Independent Baptist.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Kenis Michael (Georgia) Hall, of Banner, and Ed (Shirley) Hall, of Cleveland, Ohio; a daughter, Sharon (Larry) Hadley, of Frankfort; four grandchildren, Kendra Michelle Hall, Lawrence Matthew (Susan) Hadley, Scott Hall and Dean (Lisa) Hall; and one great-grandchild Milam Hall.
In addition to his parents, Kenes was preceded in death by his first wife, Charlene Payne Hall; two brothers, John G. and Robert Lee Hall; and three sisters, Mable Goble, Susan Frazier and Marlene Penix.
Funeral services for Kenes “Cookie” Hall will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, Aug. 17, in the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, in Martin, with Brent Tackett and Joe Coleman officiating. Burial will follow in the Davidson Memorial Gardens, at Ivel.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., Thursday, and after 10 a.m., Friday, at the funeral home.
