Sadie Marie Samons, age 89 of Martin, wife of Vernon Samons, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2012, at her residence.
She was born Aug. 30, 1922, in Martin, the daughter of the late Bascom and Susie Samons. She was a homemaker and a member of the Arkansas Church of Christ.
In addition to her husband, Vernon, she is survived by six sons, Vernon Samons Jr., Ted Samons, David Samons, Johnny Samons and Lundy Samons, all of Martin; and Lawrence Samons, of Garrett; three daughters, Edna M. Samons, of Romulus, Mich., Rosa Lee Click, of Martin, and Teresa Tackett, of Lawrenceburg; a brother, Bascom Samons, of Corpus Christi, Texas; a sister, Julie Williams, of Los Angeles, Calif.; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Samons was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers, Hezzie, Casey, Tandy, T. B. and Malcolm Samons.
Funeral services for Sadie Marie Samons were held Saturday, Aug. 11, at the Arkansas Church of Christ, Martin, with the Church of Christ ministers officiating. Burial followed in the Samons-Prater Family Cemetery, in Martin.
Hall Funeral Home, of Martin, was in charge of arrangements.
