BETSY LAYNE - The Betsy Layne High School football program held its Blue-White Game on its new turf field Friday night. A record crowd showed up for the game, despite heavy rain.

“The Blue-White (Game) was awesome,” Betsy Layne Coach Jonathan Parsons commented. “It was a record-breaking attendance for us and it rained. It really gave us a chance to put in some gametime situations and the team is coming along really good. It was an overall great night. We are working through some early injuries. As far as looking good, I will have to wait for Friday. Tackling your own team can only bring out so much competition.”

The Bobcats will have an opportunity to hit another team later in the week. Betsy Layne will visit Morgan County for a preseason scrimmage this Friday. Morgan County ended the 2011 season 8-3, finishing second behind Breathitt County in Class 3A, District 7. The Cougars return five starters on offense and five starters on defense. Morgan County is picked to finish second behind Breathitt County in Class 3A, District 7. The district also includes Magoffin County (3-8), Jackson County (1-10) and Knott County Central (0-10).

The Betsy Layne-Morgan County game is set to start at 7:30 p.m.
