PRESTONSBURG – The Eastern Kentucky Soccer Conference (EKSC) will be hosting 11 area high school teams during its 2012 Soccer-Rama at StoneCrest Park on Saturday, Aug. 4. Approximately 320 high schools athletes will be participating in the annual event.
The event will be held in two sessions. The morning session (start time – 8:55 a.m.) to early afternoon will feature the boys’ high school teams. The late afternoon session (start time – 2:55 p.m.) will feature the girls’ high school teams. The Soccer-Rama will use a unique format which allows a team to play against four opponents in four 20-minute quarters. Using this style format allows each team a chance to compete against multiple defenses and offenses to help prepare for the upcoming season.
While this is a fundraiser for the Eastern Kentucky Soccer Conference, there will be no entry fee to attend the Soccer-Rama but a donation to the league at the gate would be greatly appreciated. The funds from this event help the Eastern Kentucky Soccer Conference fund programs. At the end of the high school soccer season, the EKSC will host its annual awards ceremony to recognize the accomplishments of teams and individuals. The 2012 EKSC awards banquet will be held at the Mountain Arts Center in Prestonsburg.
High school teams set to compete in the 2012 EKSC Soccer-Rama are Belfry, Johnson Central, Paintsville, Pikeville, Prestonsburg, Shelby Valley, Boyd County, Lawrence County, Jackson City, Bath County and Hazard.
Concessions for this year’s Soccer-Rama will be provided by the Johnson Central High School Soccer Boosters.
