BUCKNER - The Beaver Creek All-Stars have won two of their first three games in the Junior League State Tournament. Following a loss to Hazard in a state tournament opener, Beaver Creek battled back to notch emotional wins over Richmond and Hazard-Perry.
Beaver Creek was scheduled to play Lewis County at press time on Tuesday evening.
Here’s a look at Beaver Creek’s first three games in the Junior League State Tournament.
Hazard-Perry 4, Beaver Creek 2: Pitchers Blake Nidiffer and Blake Lockhart combined for eight strikeouts and allowed only nine hits as Hazard doubled up Beaver Creek 4-2 on Saturday.
Barton Whitaker,Blake Nidiffer, Rudy Akeman and Griffin Wells had base hits for the Hazard-Perry All-Stars. For Beaver Creek, Wyatt Crisp and Dustin Johnson each had a double and two singles. Seth Hall, Rico Dominguez and Tanner Hamilton also contributed offensively for the Beaver Creek All-Stars.
Beaver Creek 20, Richmond 18: Beaver Creek fought its way back to beat Richmond 20-18 on Sunday in the Junior League State Tournament. The Beaver Creek All-Stars won after Richmond owned a 15-3 1ead.
Dustin Johnson hit a homerun and delivered three singles for the Beaver Creek All-Stars. Austin Lawson connected on two doubles for Beaver Creek in the state tournament game. Wyatt Crisp followed with three hits for the Beaver Creek All-Stars.
Cameron Blevins, Tanner Hamilton. Hunter Johnson and Seth Hall each had a double.Lawson started on the mound for the Beaver Creek All-Stars. Bret Sammons closed the game out on the mound for the winning team.
Beaver Creek 11, Hazard-Perry 10: Beaver Creek scored the winning run in the eighth inning on Monday as it edged Hazard-Perry 11-10. For Beaver Creek, Cameron Blevins and Rico Dominguez each had two hits. Dustin Johnson had a triple and Wyatt Crisp contributed a double for the Beaver Creek All-Stars.
For Hazard-Perry, Conner Whitaker collected two hits.
