PRESTONSBURG - The Beaver Creek 10-11 year-olds will enter the State Tournament as a district champion. Beaver Creek clinched a berth in the state tournament, thanks to an 11-6 victory over Prestonsburg on Wednesday, July 4 in the District 7 Tournament title game at StoneCrest Park. The Beaver Creek All-Star team consists of Matt Combs, Brady Conn, Dustin Huff, Tanner Tackett, Logan Conley, Joe Johnson, Austin Combs, Colin Ousley, Blazye Stumbo, Ethan Smith and Braxton Turner. Manager Jamie Tackett and coaches Willie Prater and Donnie Combs guide the Beaver Creek All-Star team.Joe Johnson was the winning pitcher for the Beaver Creek All-Stars in the victory over Prestonsburg. He worked the entire game as Beaver Creek defeated Prestonsburg in the title matchup. Beaver Creek exited the local tournament with a record of 3 -1. After losing their first round game to Prestonsburg, Beaver Creek beat Morgan County and Prestonsburg twice in the double-elimination tournament.Beaver Creek is scheduled to open play in the state tournament at StoneCrest on Saturday.
