Ruth Akers Boyd, age 77, of Dana, wife of the late Wilford B. Boyd, passed away Monday, July 16, 2012, at her residence.

She was born April 21, 1935, at Dana, the daughter of the late William Layne and Minnie Jarrell Akers. She was a homemaker.

Ruth is survived by three sons, Bobby Boyd, of Pikeville, Thomas Lee Boyd, of Martin, and Steven Ray Boyd, of Dana; two daughters, Vivian Jane Boyd, of Antioch, Tenn., and Sherronda Borders, of Banner; a brother, Clark Akers, of Vermillion, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, Ruth was preceded in death by four brothers, Bradley, Paul, Vance Luke and Walter Akers, and three sisters, Alpha Kidd, Ruby Conn and Alka Akers Case.

Funeral services for Ruth Akers Boyd will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, July 18, in the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, in Martin, with Old Regular Baptist ministers officiating. Burial will follow in the Akers Cemetery, at Dana.
