Emmel Grace Wallen, 82, of Auxier, died Sunday, July 15, 2012, at Highlands Regional Medical Center.

She was born March 6, 1930, to the late Epp and Millie Jarrell. She was the wife of the late Ollie P. Wallen. Emmel was a retired foster parent and caregiver, and a member of Third Avenue Baptist church.

She was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Joe Jarrell, Sam Jarrell, Manford Jarrell, Lilly Baker, Delie Curtis and Ruby Scutchfield.

She is survived by her great great grandson, Baby Brody Prater; sons and daughters, Wade (Marilyn) Wallen, Mark Henry (Rhonda) Wallen, William (Charles) Starr, Thelma (Charles “Chuck”) Moore and Della (Virgil) Halbert; ex-daughter-in-law, Kozetta Hamilton; brother, Carl Jarrell; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., Wednesday, July 18, at Nelson Frazier Funeral Home, in Martin, with Russ Taylor and Manford Fannin officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Wallen Family Cemetery in Prestonsburg.
