Eugene “Blue” Sturgill, 58, of Lackey, died Sunday, July 15, 2012, at Pikeville Medical Center.

Born April 30, 1954, at Lackey, to the late Forrest and Katie Sparkman Sturgill, he was a retired welder.

He is survived by four brothers, Archie (Lowen) Sturgill, of Harold, David (Vicki) Sturgill, of David, Donald (Rita) Sturgill, of Mousie, Terry (Debbie) Sturgill, of Topmost; six sisters, Betty (Devon) Prater, of Hueysville, Billie (Wade) Hall, of Kite, Mary Wilson, of Lackey, Janie (Joe) Totten, of Lackey, Debbie Gibson (Larry Hite), of Allen, and Teresa (Ricky) Pack, of Eastern; a sister-in-law, Janet Sturgill, of Kite; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Forrest Randell “Buddy” Sturgill, and a special friend, Christine LaMartz.

Funeral services for Eugene “Blue” Sturgill will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, July 19, at Nelson Frazier Funeral Home, in Martin, with Old Regular Baptist ministers officiating. Burial will follow in the Triplett-Conley Cemetery, at Lackey.

Visitation will take place all day Wednesday, at the funeral home.
