Phillip Keith Whitten, 67, of Prestonsburg, died Saturday, June 30, 2012, in Okeechobee, Fla.
He was born Dec. 17, 1944, to the late Denzil and Mabel Hope Sherman Whitten. He was the husband of Linda Price Whitten.
He was the owner of Whitten Taxi, Spurlock Food Service and Kentucky Finance Inc., and co-owner of Pic-Pac Supermarkets. He loved being in finance. He went to work for Central Financial Service, where he was a supervisor and manager. He started with Central Finance in October 1990. He was a dedicated employee for 19 years until he became disabled. He was a member of the House of Prayer in Prestonsburg.
He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Robert Whitten, Denny Whitten, Judy Garrett and Janey Whitten.
He is survived by three sons, Bryan Keith (Tina) Whitten, Christopher Taylor (Denise) Whitten and Bryan Keith Whitten Jr.; four grandchildren:,Jeff, Little Phillip Edward, Cameron and Austin; one grandson, Bradon; and host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 10, at Nelson Frazier Funeral Home with Walker Harris and Brent Tackett officiating. Burial followed the service in Davidson Memorial Gardens, at Ivel.
