BETSY LAYNE - The Betsy Layne High School football program is preparing to host a youth camp. The Betsy Layne Football Camp will be held from 5-8 p.m. at the BLHS Football Field on Thursday, July 12. The camp is for players in grades K-8.
“Some of the coaches and players have went to football camps across the state,” Betsy Layne Coach Jon Parsons said. “The players and coaches are wanting to show some of the newest drills that college camps are doing to the younger kids.”
Cost of the camp is $30 per student-athlete and $25 for each additional sibling in the same family. During the camp, players will be split up for maximum individual instruction.
Players who attend the camp will be able to compete on Betsy Layne’s new turf field.
“Getting to play on turf is a dream for any player or coach that has been to Betsy Layne,” Parsons commented. “The field will be an asset for the players and the people in the community. Coaching at Betsy Layne has always been a dream and coaching the first game on turf will be something I will treasure for the rest of my life.”
Betsy Layne will host county rival South Floyd in its home opener on the new field on Aug. 24.
