David Preston “China Man” Pitts, 58, of Martin, husband of Mearilla Conn Pitts, died Monday, June 25, 2012, at St. Joseph — Martin.

Born Feb. 16, 1954, in Floyd County, to the late Shade and Ruth Reffett Pitts, he was a disabled coal miner and a member of the Pentecostal Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a sister, Patricia Pitts, of Blue River; seven nephews; three great nephews; and one great niece.

He was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Frank Pitts, Claude Pitts, Clayton Pitts, Randall Pitts, Richard Pitts and Baby Girl Pitts.

Funeral services for David Preston “China Man” Pitts will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, June 29, at Nelson Frazier Funeral Home, in Martin, with Hershel Baldridge and Kenneth Prater Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at the Levi Conn Cemetery, at Arkansas Creek, Martin.

Visitation will be held after 6 p.m., Wednesday, and all day Thursday, at the funeral home.

Nelson Frazier Funeral Home, of Martin, is in charge of arrangements.
