Golfers enjoy the beautiful weather as they played in the sixth annual Appalachian Wireless Golf Tournament, benefiting the Highlands Center for Autism.
Hole-in-one winners were awarded either a Cadillac Escalade or a Chevrolet Camaro.
PRESTONSBURG — On June 14, Appalachian Wireless hosted its annual charity golf tournament at StoneCrest Golf Course, in Prestonsburg.
Each year, Appalachian Wireless holds a tournament to raise money for local organizations and their causes. This year, Appalachian Wireless donated all proceeds to the Highlands Center for Autism. The funds will contribute to the scholarship fund for children at the center.
Danny VanHoose, director of marketing and public relations for Appalachian Wireless, explained that this year’s golf tournament had received a lot of enthusiastic support from those who are behind the Center for Autism’s cause. The tournament included 37 teams, and raised over $12,800 for the scholarship fund.
Players at the golf tournament were able to register for door prizes, which included flat screen televisions, as well as signed basketballs by University of Kentucky players. In addition, Appalachian Wireless was giving away a Cadillac Escalade and a Chevrolet Camaro for hole-in-one winners.
The Highlands Center for Autism is a year round treatment center serving children from the earliest diagnosis through school age. The foundation of the program is based on ABA, which is an approach that is grounded in decades of research. Offering the only center-based program in Kentucky, Highlands Center for Autism uses ABA in a clinical setting.
