BETSY LAYNE - Betsy Layne junior guard Dylan Meade (6-1) has been selected to play for the North All-Stars in the Gold Medal Game of the Adidas All-Star Classic on Friday at Leslie County High School’s Richard Nixon Athletic Center.

Meade, who transferred from Pike County Central last year, led Betsy Layne in scoring during his sophomore season. The productive Meade averaged 13.9 points per game for the Bobcats during the 2011-12 campaign. He shot 32.5 percent from 3-point range. Meade will enter the 2012-13 season as one of the 15th Region’s top boys’ basketball players.

The rest of the North roster for the Appalachian All-Star Classic will feature Cody Gregory (G, Letcher County Central, 6-1, Jr.), Brent Ruckel (W, Lewis County, 6-1, Jr.), Chase Kirk (W, Sheldon Clark, 6-3, Jr.), Cody Belter (C, Shelby Valley, 6-10, Jr.), Dalton Richardson (G, Shelby Valley, 6-0, So.), Jacob Porter (G, Russell, 6-2, Sr.), Matt Thompson (W, Hazard, 6-2, Jr.), Steven Wagers (W/F, Jackson County, 6-5, Sr.) and Tony Messer (C, Belfry, 6-5, Sr.).
