PRESTONSBURG - Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Micah Johnson gave back over the weekend when he visited Floyd County for a one-day youth camp. Over 60 youth from Kentucky and West Virginia attended the Highest Level Football Camp Featuring Micah Johnson Presented by Appalachian Wireless at StoneCrest Park on Saturday.

“This is what it’s all about - giving back,” Johnson said, shortly after handing out numerous awards, one of which was the helmet he wore during his senior season at the University of Kentucky. “I love to give back. This was a great camp with great kids. There’s a lot of talent in this group. We also appreciate the parents for bringing their kids out to the camp.”

Johnson was also appreciative of sponsors that helped to make the camp possible.

“Appalachian Wireless helped to make the camp possible as the presenting sponsor and we appreciate all they do by giving back,” Johnson said. “Appalachian Wireless is a great community partner. We are also thankful for associate sponsors City of Prestonsburg and Home Furniture.”

Fellow former University of Kentucky players David Jones and Jamil Perry joined Johnson as instructors at the camp, which featured campers ages 6-18.

The versatile Johnson has thrived at multiple positions throughout his football career. In recent weeks, Johnson has played both linebacker and defensive end for the Cincinnati Bengals.

As a high school senior, Johnson was rated as the nation’s top linebacker. He was named Kentucky Mr. Football (Fort Campbell High School) and earned First Team All-SEC honors at the University of Kentucky before playing for the Miami Dolphins in the NFL. He has signed a two-year deal with the Cincinnati Bengals.
