Phyllis Jones Tackett, 75, of McDowell, wife of Cleveland Tackett, died Tuesday, June 12, 2012, at her residence.

Born Nov. 22, 1936, at Ligon, to the late Silas and Fannie Elswick Jones, she was a homemaker and a member of McDowell First Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Larry Steve Spears, of McDowell; a daughter, Melinda Hockenberry, of Marietta, Ohio; a stepson, Michael Tackett, of Prestonsburg; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Silas and Dorinda Jones and Leroy and Greta Jones.

Funeral services for Phyllis Jones Tackett will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 16, at Nelson Frazier Funeral Home, in Martin, with Slade Stinson and Ted Shannon officiating. Burial will follow in the Tackett Cemetery, at McDowell.

Visitation will take place after 6 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.

Nelson Frazier Funeral Home, of Martin, is in charge of arrangements.
