Ura Bane Thompson, 88, of Prestonsburg, died Monday morning, May 7, 2012, at the Greg & Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center in Hazard. She was born Oct. 23, 1923, in Sherburne, to the late Audie and Lena Hunt.

Mrs. Thompson, previously of Grayson and Bath County, moved to Floyd County 47 years ago. She is of the Christian Church faith, a former Eastern Star, loved to cook and have family dinners. Mrs. Thompson’s number one priority was her family, taking care of her late husband, Paul, her son, Paul Hunt Thompson, her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Survivors include one son, Paul Hunt Thompson (Donna), of Prestonsburg; one sister, Thelma Hunt Gulley, of Sharpsburg; five grandchildren, Paul Thompson (Tabitha), of Prestonsburg, Charles Thompson (Cassy), of Wheelwright, John Thompson (Marla), of Prestonsburg, Jody Conn (Melissa), of Prestonsburg, and Chesa Shelton (Steven), of Prestonsburg; and nine great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Jesse “Kash” Hunt and Ralph Hunt.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions towards the Greg & Noreen Hospice Care Center, 101 Dennis Sandlin MD Cove, Hazard, Kentucky 41701.

Memorial service will located at the Sharpsburg Christian Church, Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at 6 p.m. Pastor Danny Curry will be officiating.
