Locals will have an opportunity to get outside and help clean up a local landmark this weekend as the Friends of Middle Creek invite everyone out for Park Day.
According Friends of Middle Creek (FMC) organizers, they will be participating in the a nationally-coordinated effort to clean and beautify our nation’s Civil War battle sites on Saturday April 7, 2012. The group will be working in the Middle Creek National Battlefield at the junction of KY 114 and KY 404 just above Prestonsburg. Middle Creek is Eastern Kentucky’s only nationally recognized Civil War battlefield.
FMC says organizations that would like to participate in this effort need only have a willing heart, a pair of gloves, and a trash bag, and hopes that everyone will join them as they work to preserve and enhance this precious Civil War site.
The Friends of Middle Creek will be providing a lunch and refreshments at the site for those who participate and more information about Park Day may be found at the website: http://www.civilwar.org/parkday/.
If you would be interested or plan on participating, please contact Floyd Davis at 606 886 6323, or email the Friends of Middle Creek at firstname.lastname@example.org.
